Bass Reeves may have been around in the 1880s, but it’s not from the yellow stone universe. Reeves was a real figure in American history, and the first black deputy US sheriff west of the Mississippi River. Get ready, because this new series may contain some history that we should know about.
When Sheridan finished 1883, the producers at Paramount Network were very angry that he wrote it so there couldn’t be a second season. As Sheridan said Deadline, they wanted to hold a meeting to discuss how certain characters may have survived their deaths, so Sheridan thought of “another peek in the window.” “They’re like, there better be a fucking second season because we already picked it up,” she recalled. “I’m sitting here thinking, ‘Guys, they’re all dead.'” under reeves it will be another peek into that era. It will not include anyone from the cast of 1883however, because it is not tied to the yellow stone universe at all.
selmaDavid Oyelowo’s David Oyelowo will play Bass Reeves, opposite Dennis Quaid as Deputy US Marshal Sherrill Lynn. From 1838 to 1910 as a gunslinger and lawman, Reeves is said to have recorded more than 3,000 arrests during his lifetime. Many historians believe that Reeves would later be a partial inspiration for the “Lone Ranger.” There is no official release date for under reeves still. Deadline reported that the crew is officially filming in Texas, so it may be a while before we see the legendary lawman on our screens. Until then, there are always plenty of Sheridan’s Paramount shows, like Yellowstone, 1923, king of tulsaand Kingstown Mayor, to delight your eyes.
