The inhabitants of Aachen spoke out on social media on Friday about the protests against the right. At the beginning, the association writes that they are “of course against all forms of hatred, agitation and extremism.” The TSV “aims to connect fans of all nations, religions and democratic opinions.”

However, the residents of Aachen also make it clear that they do not want to participate in demonstrations “in which banners with the slogan 'Kill the AFDlers' are displayed.” The traditional club from North Rhine-Westphalia wants to participate in this “social split.”

Traditional club receives massive criticism for post about anti-AfD protests

The residents of Aachen deactivated the comment function on their posts from the beginning. The reason: “There are many opportunities for debate and Alemannia Aachen does not want to be one of them. Politics separates people, sports unites them. Let's focus on the latter.”

The publication of the traditional North Rhine-Westphalian club was still being discussed, also on social media. The tenor was quite clear and so were the criticisms of the content of the statement.

One user writes: “All professional football clubs on the Internet today: Never again! Alemannia Aachen yesterday on the Internet: Yes, but…”

Also another user of “X”, previously Twitter, reacts clearly: “So Alemannia Aachen can also leave. What incredible statements that day. Sport is always political. And more than ever, a clear stance against the enemies of democracy is needed.”

The editor-in-chief of “11Freunde”, Philipp Köster, a prominent sports journalist, also commented on the Aachen statement. “Some clubs may avoid taking a clear stance against far-right activities; no club has ever done so as dirty and transparently as Alemannia Aachen,” Köster wrote.
