bAs part of the investigation, 50,000 Bitcoins have been temporarily secured in Saxony. At Tuesday's price, Bitcoins would be worth about two billion euros, a spokesman for the State Criminal Police Agency (LKA) confirmed to the German press agency. Accordingly, one of the suspects in the investigation voluntarily transferred the virtual currency to the Federal Criminal Police Agency (BKA).

The investigation was directed against a 40-year-old and a 37-year-old man. According to LKA, it is suspected that the men ran the pirated portal until the end of May 2013. They allegedly bought Bitcoins with the proceeds.

Investigations by the Dresden public prosecutor's office, the Saxon State Criminal Police Office and the Tax Investigation Department of the Leipzig Tax Office were supported by the BKA, the US Federal Police FBI and a Munich IT expert firm, he said. According to the LKA spokesperson, no charges have been filed so far.

According to LKA, Bitcoin security by law enforcement agencies is the most extensive in the Federal Republic to date. One of the men transferred Bitcoins to BKA's so-called wallet, i.e. virtual currency account. It was said that the final decision on the use of Bitcoins has not yet been made.
