'Go to the police': Easier said than done when it comes to sexual assault. Even only 1 in 10 rapes are reported. Why is it like that? Searching for clues.

FIf we ask Angela Wagner about a typical case, she tells us about Nadja.

Wagner is the executive director of the Frankfurt Women's Emergency Call Center. It is a counseling center for women and girls who are at risk of or affected by violence. They often contact women after they have been raped.

Most rape cases in this country remain unsolved and most victims are not even recorded in the statistics. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, only one rape in ten is reported. In 2022, there were 10,296. Why is the rate so low? And why is it so difficult to prosecute reported cases and convict the perpetrators? The search for answers leads to Angela Wagner, who tells us about Nadja. The name is a pseudonym and his case is slightly distorted so that none of the customers will recognize themselves. This is important for a women's hotline.
