As the Czech media reported on Thursday, the woman only wanted to go to the clinic's gynecology department for a routine check-up as part of her pregnancy. After CNN Prima News initially reported the error, the Czech Ministry of Health confirmed it to news agency CTK. The hospital's management informed the ministry and expressed its “deepest regret” to the patient and his relatives.
“There has been an unforgivable human error, the culprits have been removed from service for the time being,” said the ministry's spokesperson.
The hospital itself informed the news portal “Novinky.cz” that it is ready to pay the compensation. According to the media, there are two foreign nationals, both of whom lived permanently in the Czech Republic. Officials did not release information about the identities of the two women.
