The heir to the throne attended a football match in Birmingham with his son George. The two cheered on William's favorite club, Aston Villa. The prince initially withdrew after she fell ill.

EPrince William's first public appearance since his wife Kate's cancer news: The 41-year-old heir to the British throne appeared with his ten-year-old son George at a football match in Birmingham on Thursday night. The two clapped and laughed together at the stadium of William's favorite club Aston Villa. And they had reason to rejoice: Aston Villa beat French club OSC Lille 2-1.

William's wife Kate announced on March 22 that she has cancer. Without mentioning the type of cancer, the 42-year-old woman announced in a video message that she had started chemotherapy. His cancer was discovered after major abdominal surgery in mid-January.

William had already significantly reduced his appearances after her hospitalization. Since the announcement that Princess Catherine – commonly known as Kate – was suffering from cancer, she had not appeared in public until Thursday night.
