As can be read on “Productwarning.eu”, the Meierei-Genossenschaft Sarzbüttel eG is recalling several types of cheese from the market due to possible contamination with listeria. These bacteria could cause health problems if consumed. Buyers of over-the-counter products in particular should be aware of this warning, as it may be difficult to identify the affected cheese.

The products affected by the recall include four different types of cheese with specific expiration dates.

    • Gourmet cheese with 60% fat in dry matter (362-2 preferably before July 25, 2024 and August 1, 2024)
    • Easter cheese with 60% fat in dry matter (034-2 preferable before September 22, 2024)
    • West wind with 55% fat in dry matter (045-2 MHD September 19, 2024)
    • North Sea cheese with 55% fat in dry matter (059-2 preferably before September 26, 2024)
  • Rewe has also reported other expiration dates. The dairy has not confirmed this yet.

    Edeka and Rewe recall: North Sea packaged cheese also affected

    In addition, packaged products sold in Rewe and Edeka are also affected.

    • At Edeka: North Sea cheese with 55% fat, 150 gram slices in multi-layer packaging with expiration dates: May 11, 2024, May 12, 2024, May 13, 2024 and May 14, 2024 lot identification: 320304, 190304, 730304 and 300304
    • At Rewe: North Sea cheese with 55% fat in a 160 gram bowl with best before dates: May 16, 2024, May 22, 2024 and May 27, 2024
    • At Bünting: North Sea cheese with 55% fat in a 150-gram container with expiration dates: May 11, 2024 and May 13, 2024

    Consumers who purchased these cheese products are asked to return them. According to “Productwarning.eu”, the Meierei-Genossenschaft Sarzbüttel eG emphasizes that consumer protection has the highest priority and that the recall campaign must be taken very seriously. The cooperative works closely with food control authorities to prevent further spread of affected products and ensure customer safety.
