Amazon is expanding its prescription delivery service. Starting today, customers in New York City and the greater Los Angeles area will receive their medications the same day they order them. Amazon launched its online pharmacy service in 2020. It allows customers to order prescription medications for home delivery. The “Amazon Pharmacy” service offers free deliveries but only for Prime members.

Amazon's smallest warehouses store common medications

To shorten delivery times, Amazon says it is using new, smaller warehouses stocked with the most common medications for acute illnesses. These locations can process a prescription “in a matter of minutes instead of hours or days,” Amazon said.
