Former NBA player Ben McLemore was arrested Tuesday and faces serious charges including first-degree rape, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and second-degree sexual abuse. The allegations stem from an incident that occurred in 2021 when he was still playing for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Former NBA star defends himself after rape accusations: “My name will be cleared”

A former NBA lottery pick, McLemore played for several teams during his NBA career, including the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. He played his last NBA game with the Trail Blazers in the 2021-22 season.

McLemore was arrested at the Portland Airport on an outstanding warrant from Clackamas County and booked into the Clackamas County Jail.

These are serious accusations and the outcome of the process will be determined by the judiciary. As the case progresses, more details may emerge about the specific incident and the evidence against McLemore.

McLemore himself has since issued a statement saying he is confident his name will be cleared once the truth comes to light.
