La Paz, (EFE).- The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, appealed to economic stability, low inflation and industrialization to commemorate the 14th anniversary of Plurinational State Day, in which he also urged to defend the homeland “for above all political calculations.

The events began with an ancestral ceremony of gratitude to Pachamama or Mother Earth led by a group of amautas or Aymara wise men, in which Arce, his vice president, David Choquehuanca, his ministers, and different pro-government organizations participated.

Subsequently, the authorities moved to the Casa Grande del Pueblo, the seat of the Government, where, among typical Bolivian dances, the Minister of the Presidency, María Nela Prada, union leaders and Vice President Choquehuanca gave speeches in which they highlighted “unity”. of the Bolivian people and the culture of «living well».

These acts were not attended by Evo Morales, who is also a leader of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) and promoter of the Plurinational State, nor by some of the parliamentarians of the block related to the former president, a sign of the division within the ruling party.

The Day of the Plurinational State was declared by Morales in 2010 by means of a decree and refers to the date of his first presidential inauguration, January 22, 2006.

“Today we commemorate one more year of the glorious birth of our Plurinational State of Bolivia, which, unlike the old colonial republic of that apparent state and hierarchies, recognizes us and brings us all together in our plurality, in our similarities and differences” , stated Arce at the beginning of his speech.

The “unity of our Plurinational State is a strategic necessity, today more than ever Bolivians must be alert to the call of the Homeland that summons us to defend it above all political, partisan or group calculation,” he said.

The president cited various historical milestones from the country’s founding in 1825 to the present, such as the referendum on January 25, 2009, when Bolivians approved the country’s new Constitution.

“In January 2006, our brother Evo said in a historic ancestral ceremony ‘Aimaras, Quechuas, Mojeños, we are presidents’, because for the first time in our history an indigenous person assumed the Presidency” and since “January 22, 2006, a new time for the Bolivian people,” said Arce.

The president pointed out that “we must never lose sight of the fact that with the rupture of the constitutional order in November 2019, an attempt was made to return to the colonial republic and the neoliberal model, but the Bolivian people have democratically defined our horizon.”

In 2019, there were strong protests before and after the failed elections of that year, among complaints of electoral fraud in favor of Morales, who finally resigned from the Presidency after almost 14 years in government, denouncing being the victim of a “coup d’état.”

Economic model

Arce focused his speech on the economic achievements that have been achieved since he assumed the Presidency of Bolivia in November 2020, with the application of his Productive Community Social Economic Model (MESCP).

“Today, despite an adverse international context and as a result of the policies implemented within the framework of our economic model aimed at economic and reproductive reconstruction, we registered a positive growth figure of 6.1% in 2021 and by the end of 2022 we have reached close to 4%,” he said.

Arce also stressed that the import substitution industrialization policy “will change the history” of Bolivia and will allow “building a solid, integrated economy, with industrial sovereignty, strengthening the internal market to accelerate the comprehensive development” of the country.

Finally, the president said that “efforts must be redoubled to consolidate serious alliances with peoples, nations, and governments that share the ideals of a Great Homeland that, respecting our particularities, integrates us and strengthens us in the fight against all kinds of exploitation and oppression.” , which advances without pause towards living well for all, “he mentioned.

After the official acts, different social organizations related to the ruling party paraded through the center of La Paz, seat of the Executive and Legislative power, to give their support to President Arce, who from a platform together with his ministers and other authorities greeted the passage of the March.
