The cost of car insurance depends on a number of factors. It's not always easy to keep track of things. However, the fact that your name can reveal something about the price of your auto liability insurance can be surprising.

Car insurance costs: Names show a trend

A recent study by the comparison portal Verivox is making people take notice. As the portal schwäbische.de reports, people with certain names sometimes pay much more for their insurance than others. In order to have a meaningful basis, Verivox “limited itself to the 30 most common names,” explains spokeswoman Nadja Feder to the Schwäbische Zeitung.

There were large differences in the costs of car insurance between the respective namesakes. People with the name “Jessica” pay on average 38 percent more than the average. Compared to a “Uwe”, they pay more than twice as much for the same factors.

These are the four men and women who pay the most and the least for their car insurance:

People who pay more The people who pay the least
Patrick uwe
David Bernd
Tobias Jürgen
Daniel Jörg
Jessica petra
Sara Karin
Jennifer gabriela
Nicole Martina

The reason is the class without complaints.

What at first glance seems very arbitrary can be logically explained if you look more closely. Because, of course, your car insurance costs are not calculated based on your name. What is more important is the so-called no-claims class.

As you may have noticed, the names of people who pay the least are more likely to be found in the older generation. This means that these people are likely to have driven accident-free for a much longer period of time than younger people.

This means that they receive a bigger discount on the cost of their car insurance and therefore have to pay less. For example, while the “Patricks” in the analysis were on average 36.9 years old, the average “Uwes” was a whopping 59.2 years old. A similar picture emerges among women. The “Jessicas” had an average age of 33.6 years, while the “Petras” were around 58.5 years old.
