Dakota Johnson “Madame Web’ Trailer Line Draws Online Jeers

Dakota Johnson has a unique way of delivering lines. The actress doesn’t scream. She rarely gets angry. She prefers a sort of deadpan tone, speaking in a monotone that is more casual than disinterested. But there is a part in the new trailer for Madame Web while she just looks bored, maybe because the line is so awkward. This is the part that became a meme on social media.

By The daily beastInternet users grabbed a random part of the Madame Web commercial, in which Johnson, on the narration track, becomes terribly explanatory. Her character, Cassie Webb (yes, that’s her name), talks about the film’s big bad, which sounds awfully familiar.

“I’ve seen this man before,” Johnson muses. “He was in the Amazon with my mother when she was researching spiders, just before she died.”

The line may have passed most viewers on first viewing. But leave it to the social media yuksters to make fun of that.

One person turned to Johnson’s iconic exchange with Ellen DeGeneres.

Some roped up Convicted Republican lawmaker George Santos.

Others followed George W. Bush.

And Trump.
