Airport operator Fraport will achieve record profits in 2023
Fraport, the operator of Frankfurt airport, earned more on a day-to-day basis in 2023 than ever before. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization increased by 17 percent to €1.2 billion, as announced by the company listed on MDax in Frankfurt. For the current year, CEO Stefan Schulte expects a result of between 1.26 and 1.36 billion euros. By 2030, operating profit is expected to increase to two billion euros.
Passenger numbers at Germany's largest airport are unlikely to return to pre-coronavirus levels in 2024: Schulte expects between 61 and 65 million passengers this year. In 2019, Fraport counted around 70.6 million passengers in Frankfurt. Last year there were 59.4 million.
Fraport shareholders must continue to forgo dividends
The conclusion is that Fraport shareholders obtained a profit of 393 million euros in 2023, approximately triple that of the previous year. However, shareholders should continue to forgo profit distribution: due to the high level of debt, the group does not want to pay dividends for 2023 or 2024.
