Deadpool 3 Movie Details: Cast, Plot, Director

It’s been four years since “Deadpool 2” hit theaters and fans are eagerly awaiting the third installment. The fate of the film franchise and its titular character seemed to be in limbo after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox in March 2019. But the following year, franchise leadership ryan reynolds confirmed that “Deadpool 3” was finally on the way. And then the long-awaited addition to the franchise got even more exciting: Hugh Jackman returns to his role as Wolverine and officially enters the MCU.

Reynolds, producer of all three installments, first revealed the big news in a video shared on social media on September 27, 2022, which he captioned, “It’s hard to keep your mouth shut about this one.” In the clip, the actor sits on a couch as he tells fans that “I really had to search my soul on this one.” “[Deadpool’s] The first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find a new depth, motivation, meaning,” she says. “Every ‘Deadpool’ needs to stand out and be different. It has been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach deep inside. Me too . . . I don’t have anything. Yeah, just empty completely here. And terrifying. But we had an idea.”

Then Jackman, Reynolds’ former friend enemy, steps into the background, with the former asking the actor if he wants to play Wolverine in “Deadpool 3.” Jackman, who last played the character in 2017’s “Logan,” responds, “Yeah, sure, Ryan.”

Emma Corrin, who played Princess Diana in the fourth season of “The Crown,” has a leading role as a villain, according to Deadline, although other details about his character are not yet known. He output also reported that “Succession” star Matthew Macfadyen, who plays fan-favorite character Tom Wambsgans, has also joined the cast of “Deadpool 3,” though his character is also unknown.

Then, on May 18, Deadline reported that Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna would return to the franchise for the third film. Hildebrand plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who can generate nuclear explosions, while Kutsuna plays her girlfriend Yukio, a mutant. That same day, both actors confirmed the news of their casting on their respective Instagram accounts by sharing the article.

“Deadpool 3” is directed by Shawn Levy, from a script by Levy, Reynolds, Zeb Wells, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Reese and Wernick spoke with discussing cinema in June 2022 about the making of the sequel for Marvel Studios. “It’s almost like putting on a cozy old sweater. Marvel has really given us the support to keep the tone and vision that we have,” Reese said. “They have been very free hands and supportive, but they have also let us do what we do. So really, it’s been fun.”

He added: “We’re mad scientists back in the lab. Deadpool is our favourite, who will always be the character I think we’re most associated with, and we’re so grateful to be allowed to write him again. So it’s a blast. It’s like going back to school after having summer vacation. It’s so much fun.”

Only time will tell where Deadpool, Wolverine and their friends are. Will it fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we’re excited to see what the creative team comes up with. With Marvel holding the rights to many of their most popular heroes, including the other X-Men, we may finally see Deadpool team up with his comic book comrades. Maybe one of them will explain what exactly happened next. The wild post-credits scene of “Deadpool 2” basically eradicated the movie.
