Singer turned actor turned singer again dominic fike is in a new chapter. Tonight (May 26) Fike has shared the latest track from his upcoming second album, Tanned. In the cherished “Ant Pile,” Fike took us back to his days on the playground, where he remembers falling in love with one of his classmates.
“First grade / Someone tied you to a bunch of ants / And that wasn’t even the worst day / You knew then that I always liked you,” Fike sings, over electrifying guitar riffs.
It then chronicles their love through high school, where they began to take their relationship to higher levels, from dating, hookups, breakups, and painful breakups.
“9th grade / I picked you up before the first date / You were allergic to your main dish / You couldn’t make pasta / The movie was horrible,” he sings in the second verse.
“Pile of ants” is one of fike‘s most romantic songs, and the lyrics play vividly, like the soundtrack to a coming-of-age movie. Tanned it is said to be an autobiographical album inspired by his childhood in Florida. Most of the album was written, produced and recorded in his home state.
You can listen to “Ant Pile” above.
Tanned leaves 7/7 via Columbia. Find more information here.
