At Mallorca Airport, the union of the Eurowings subsidiary, Wings Handling Palma (WHP), has called on ground staff to strike. Eurowings announced in Cologne that an agreement had been reached between the union and the company. This would improve the working conditions of employees and take into account the company's competitiveness.
The agreement has a duration of two years.
The union wanted to strike in Mallorca at the beginning of July
The deal came at the last second. The original plan was for WHP ground staff to strike for several days in July. Only Eurowings flights were affected.
The planned strike days are:
- Monday the 1st of July,
- Friday the July 5th,
- Sunday, which July 7th,
- Wednesday, which July 10th,
- Friday the 12th of July and
- Saturday, that July 13.
therefore they are avoided.
Joaquín Ortega, spokesperson for the WHP employees union, confirmed at the request of FOCUS online that WHP ground staff would have to stop work for several days of strike. Tourists should expect flight delays and cancellations during this time.
