After the previous Thursday suspending Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse one game for charging into a scrum and starting a fight with vegas defending Nicholas Haya during Game 4 on Wednesday, the NHL imposed more discipline on Thursday night.

Las Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo stabbed Edmonton star forward Leon Draisaitl in the dying moments of the Golden Knights’ 4-1 loss. The Las Vegas blue line stalwart received a major five-minute penalty and game misconduct.

Following his vicious two-handed slash on both Draisaitl’s wrists, the NHL announced that Pietrangelo is suspended for Game 5 of the second-round series.

Draisaitl, who was trying to score on empty goal, was able to avoid a serious injury.

After the cutting incident, absolute chaos broke out that included the Oilers star. Connor McDavid chasing Pietrangelo in defense of his partner. Less than a minute later, another altercation broke out, culminating in the aforementioned fight between Nurse and Hague.

The Western Conference second-round series, which is tied 2-2, will return to action Friday with Game 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
