HBO Max’s name change trolled Peacock with a dirty little joke

When it launched in 2020, HBO Max got off to a rocky start. Hell, it had a rough first few months: Warner Bros. big streamer wasn’t even available to stream on Roku until the end of December of that year. But once it ironed out the kinks, it distinguished itself as arguably the best mainstream streaming service around. The glory days didn’t last, though, and not just now. missing some of what were his best treasures, but now it also has a new name that causes confusion. That has him trolled by some of the competition.

On Tuesday, HBO Max was officially rebranded as simply Max. Suddenly, subscribers had to update their app or, if they were streaming on their computer, start going to a new URL. There were some interruption issues. And there was Peacock, the chaotic NBC Universal streamer, who used the occasion to make a dirty joke: “I know you’re all very disappointed, but I’m *not* dropping the first half of my name anytime soon.”

It’s a good joke, spicy in a way that won’t get the Twitter team in trouble, and shocking enough against Warner Bros. Discovery to draw some blood.

It’s not the only time in recent days that the company has been ridiculed: Incumbent boss David Zaslav was loudly and repeatedly booed while giving a college commencement speech amid the WGA strike. Or maybe they were angry because he effectively removed the almost completed Bat girl.
