HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued interim instructions to the Telangana State Government to adhere to the formulations of the Union Ministry of Defense in organizing Republic Day celebrations, including parade.

However, the state government is free to choose where the celebrations will take place.

In a Lunch Motion filed in the High Court, the petitioner complained that the State Government had attempted to circumvent the directives and circular issued by the Union Government on January 19 regarding the celebrations of the Republic Day.

While hearing the motion, Justice P. Madhavi Devi observed that the Telangana Government cannot deviate from the Union Government Circular, where there are Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding the precautionary measure of Covid-19.
