Five young Iranian women were arrested and coerced into giving a false confession after they danced in public, without the Islamic headscarf, to a song by American singer Selena Gomez.

According to the newspaper Iran International Englishthe video was published last week, on International Women’s Day, on the social network Instagram, and ended up going viral. The girl who posted the video was forced to remove it and deactivate her page.

Authorities searched for the five girls who ended up being detained for two days and were coerced into giving a false confession.The dance to the sound of “Calm Down”, by Rema and Selena Gomez, served as a motto for a new form of protest against the Iranian regime. A young Iranian woman, Mahsa Amini, was arrested in Tehran for not wearing the hijab correctly and ended up dying while in police custody.

There is no information about the whereabouts of the girls at this time.
