Jimmie Johnson Is Finally Going In The Cowboys Ring Of Honor

Jimmy Johnson oversaw the best period of Dallas Cowboys football since the 1970s, as he won back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1993 and 1994, shortly leaving that 1994 Super Bowl title after a dispute with owner Jerry Jones.

Over the next 30 years, Jones and Johnson feuded, with Cowboys ownership refusing to put Johnson in the team’s ring of honor despite leading two of the franchise’s five championships . In recent years, the two have mended their relationship, and Jones told Johnson during the Hall of Fame match before his 2021 induction that he would enter the Ring of Honor. However, two years had passed without this day arriving and people wondered if this project would really come to fruition.

Finally, on Sunday morning, Jones broke the news to Johnson in person, live. FOX NFL Sundaythat he was going to be inducted into Ring of Honor on December 30 when the Cowboys hosted the Lions in prime time – with a rather funny misstep saying he would enter in 1923, not 2023.

It’s a long overdue honor for Johnson, but it’s nice to see the two longtime friends becoming friendly again and Jones finally putting the Hall of Fame coach in the ring of honor.
