GKing Charles III of Great Britain. reminded people of the importance of helping each other in the coming Easter. The 75-year-old monarch sent an audio message to the traditional Royal Maundy service on Maundy Thursday. He was unable to attend due to cancer. “I am very sad that I will not be able to be with you all today,” Charles said, according to Buckingham Palace. Jesus was an example of “how we should serve and care for others.” He also reminded them how much they as a nation need and benefit from those “who lend us a hand of friendship, especially in times of need.”

The audio message was recorded at Buckingham Palace in mid-March. One photo showed Charles sitting at a desk in a blue suit, with a microphone and blooming flowers in front of him. The recording was played at Worcester Cathedral and broadcast by UK radio stations. Due to his illness, Charles is currently not making any major public appearances.
