Matthew Perry”s Book Made Him Happy At End

It’s been three weeks since Matthew Perry died suddenly. The news hit hard and tributes poured in like an avalanche. Others are still arriving. Last week, Perry’s comrade Friends alumni each honored their long duration colleague individually. On Thursday, Lauren Graham, a close friend of Perry’s, continued CBS Mornings to promote her new book Have I told you yet?, and she took the time to reveal what made her happy at the end of her life.

“Last year he was so proud of the book he wrote and how many people it touched,” said the Gilmore Girls star revealed. “It was a success that brought him a level of happiness that I hadn’t seen from him in a very long time, so it’s a lovely memory.”

Graham was of course referring to Friends, Lovers, and Great, Terrible Things: A Memoirhis book, both funny and bracingly honest, in which he details, among other things, his long battles with addiction.

She added: “It’s something to be grateful for, and again, the book really meant something to him, so it was a really happy year for him.”

Graham starred with Perry in the 2008 film Birds of America. During a Q&A for The Odd Couple revival, Perry called her “one of my favorite people,” saying, “We have great chemistry when we work together and it’s fun working with a close friend.”
