Mayim Bialik Wants “Weird’ Al On Her Mental Wellness Podcast

Mayim Bialik is certainly busy. In addition to accommodation Danger! — except when there is a WGA strike – she is reboot To bloom, the series that made her a star, even if this time it won’t be a sitcom. She also has a podcast, Mayim Bialik’s breakdown, where she uses her doctorate in neuroscience to talk about mental health with experts and other celebrities. She’s got some big names, but there’s one white whale she’s desperate to attract to her show.

In a interview with Vanity Fair, Bialik revealed she was “trying” to convince “Weird” Al Yankovic to come talk about mental wellness. Unfortunately, he was a little reluctant.

“He says he doesn’t have anything to say, but I feel like everyone has something,” Bialik said. “We are very happy to talk to people about their journey. We tell them we’re not trying to dig up dirt or make anyone feel uncomfortable. But once we start talking, they feel comfortable, so they trust us. When I’m vulnerable, when [cohost] Jonathan [Cohen]is vulnerable, people seem to open up. I’m not a therapist, but I’ve certainly been to many therapists’ rooms.

Bialik and Cohen started the podcast at the height of the pandemic, and initially, she said, the idea was to stick to experts and specialists. This also extended to the rich and famous, like Ben Stiller and Matthew McConaughey. Some clients find it downright therapeutic.

“Leslie Jordan spoke very openly about crystal meth and what it was like to come out as gay,” she explained. “One of the things we hear most often is, ‘I’ve never told anyone that!’ Maybe there’s something about the way Jonathan and I talk to people that makes them want to talk to us. We’re not trying to be dirty or gossipy, but I think more and more people are realizing that the more we talk about it, the better off we’ll all be.
