Michael B. Jordan to Direct ‘Creed 4’, Says Producer Irwin Winkler

A fourth “Creed” movie is in development with Michael B. Jordan ready to direct the next installment, the franchise producer Irwin Winkler has revealed.

Jordan made his directorial debut with “Creed 3,” in which he also played heavyweight champion Adonis Creed from the “Rocky” spin-off film series. The third installment, which premiered in theaters in March of this year, swept the box office with its opening weekend of $58 million, a record sum for the boxing franchise.

MGM did not respond to VarietyRequest for comments on “Creed 4.”

Jordan first appeared as Adonis in 2015’s “Creed,” followed by the 2018 sequel and 2023’s third. Sylvester Stallone reprized his role as Rocky Balboa in the first two “Creed” installments, becoming Adonis’ mentor. the son of his old rival Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). “Creed 3” is the first installment of the long-running series without Stallone.

In March, Variety reported that Jordan and Amazon were in talks for a film and television universe that would expand the world of “Creed” boxing.

While details remained scarce on the projects being discussed, sources said talks were underway to explore the possibilities of capitalizing on the success of MGM’s film franchise on Prime Video, following MGM’s acquisition by part of Amazon.

Deadline was the first to report the news of “Creed 4,” publishing a video clip on Winkler’s X/Twitter announcing the upcoming film.

“We’re planning to do ‘Creed 4’ right now (it’s in the works) and we think we have a really good story, a really good plot,” Winkler said, adding that the plans were delayed “because of a strike, like everyone else.” , but “probably within a year we will move on to pre-production.”
