OSN+ and Spotify Rival Anghami join forces on a combined platform

middle East serpentine OSN+ is joining forces with AnghamiSpotify’s rival in the Arab world, in what is being touted as a landmark deal.

The combination of OSN+ and Anghami will become the first platform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to offer customers premium movies, TV series and music. It will combine over 120 million registered Anghami users and over 2.5 million paying OSN+ subscribers.

The move could revolutionize the media and entertainment landscape in MENA, as OSN+ is a leading streaming platform for premium content and a primary outlet for Hollywood scripted content across 22 territories in MENA. In March they expanded their relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery, forging a new multi-year licensing agreement that makes them the exclusive home of HBO content. They also have rights to Paramount+ shows, plus a series from Sky Studios and Peacock Originals produced by NBC Universal, as well as deals with major Arab and Turkish studios.

Since launching in 2021, Anghami has achieved rapid growth with a catalog of over 100 million songs and 120 million current registered users, up from 75 million in 2021, although only a fraction of them are paying customers.

The deal, which is backed by a cash investment of up to $50 million from OSN Group in Anghami, will make Elie Habib, co-founder of Anghami, CEO of the combined business, while OSN Group CEO Joe Kawkabani will direct your linear television. Business OSNtv.

The combined platform will leverage Anghami’s strong technology and rich music catalog along with OSN+ library of premium scripted content “to deliver a unique digital streaming experience with AI-powered hyper-personalization that prioritizes recommendations based on user preferences” , reads a statement.
