Benfica confirms the serious injury of Pauleta, the captain of the women’s football team.
The Spanish midfielder injured herself in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup against Famalicão.
According to the Reds, the player suffered “an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee”.
Pauleta, who has played 150 games with an eagle on his chest, no longer plays this season and will stop for several months.
It is the third serious injury this season for the two-time national champions after Dani and Valéria Cantuário.
