Pictures posted online show vehicles trapped under large steel beams at the airport terminal's departure area. The terminal is used for domestic flights only. Airport authorities announced that all flights departing from there have been canceled until the afternoon. Arrivals are still possible and other terminals are not affected. There was chaos at the airport as check-in desks were closed and many people turned back, news channel NDTV reported.
New Delhi has also been hit by heavy rains for the past few days. The monsoon season begins in South Asia in June and lasts until around September. Heavy rain that can cause severe flooding and landslides is normal. The deadly consequences occur again and again.
