If you’re having a down year, you can tell yourself this: You’re probably nowhere near as bad as Rudy Giuliani. The former “America’s Mayor” hasn’t been doing well since agreeing to help Donald Trump stay in office after being voted out. Since then, he’s racked up massive lawsuits, along with tons of legal fees, and Trump I don’t do much to help. It seems like things couldn’t get any worse for Rudy, and yet they do.
According to Insider, on Monday, Giuliani was sued for $1.4 million by the law firm Davidoff Hutcher & Citron. In the filing, they allege that Giuliani agreed to pay more than $1.5 million as part of a service contract. Alas, so far he’s only paid out more than $214,000 in total, including a token payment of $10,000 earlier this month. This leaves a balance of $136,196.
To add insult to injury, among the plaintiffs is a longtime friend, Robert Costello, a partner at the firm. Both worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the 1970s. Costello was even a major supporter of his first campaign to become mayor of New York.
But in recent years, things have gone wrong:
Costello represented Giuliani from 2019 until this summer, the lawsuit says. He advised Giuliani on Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, a criminal investigation by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, Attorney Fani Willis’ investigation into the nullification attempts Georgia’s 2020 elections, a congressional investigation, a lawyer. disciplinary proceedings that could cost Giuliani his license to practice law, and more than 10 civil suits.
Last month, some of Giuliani’s current lawyers claimed that he so broken that they should show him mercy. Rudy surely remembers fondly those days when he was simply humiliated on national television while wearing a stupid costume.
