Referee Scott Foster was left with a bloody lip after taking an unintentional hit from Lebron James during Game 3 on Saturday between the lakers and pips.

Foster, who appeared to be bleeding from a cut around his mouth, was treated briefly after the incident in the first half.

When James reached out to apologize to the veteran NBA official after the accidental contact, Foster hit him with a hilarious and unexpected quip.

“You’ve wanted to do that for 25 years,” Foster quipped to James as he tended to his injury.

Los Angeles forward Austin Reaves could also be heard jokingly telling Foster that James should be called a technical foul.

The incident occurred near the end of the second quarter. Foster, who was the crew chief for Game 3 on Saturday night, was able to officiate the rest of the game after laughing at the pain from his bloody lip as he joked around with LeBron.

The Lakers were beaten, 119-108, and now find themselves down 3-0 in the Western Conference Finals against Denver. It was their first home court loss in the playoffs as they face a series deficit that has proven insurmountable throughout NBA history.

Game 4 is scheduled for Monday at 8:30 p.m. ET in Los Angeles.
