Missouri Quarterback Brady Cook led the Tigers to a big surprise 30-27 more then-No. fifteen Kansas State on Saturday.
Based on that phrase, observers might expect Missouri’s home crowd to absolutely love the starting quarterback. However, the crowd booed Cook during the team’s introductions.
It’s not that Cook has played poorly in the Tigers’ first two games of the season, recording 376 total passing yards and three touchdown passes without an interception in wins over South Dakota and Middle Tennessee. But fans are presumably enamored with the idea of prized recruit Sam Horn, a redshirt freshman, under center at Mizzou.
Following the victory at Faurot Field in Columbia, Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz began his postgame press conference by expressing his displeasure with Cook’s reception.
“I’m going to say it. He made me angry when we booed our starting quarterback to start the game,” Drinkwitz said. “He went out and played hard for this university and this team. They need to get behind him. Get behind the young man. Do you want to boo me? Good. You don’t boo the starting quarterback. “It’s nonsense.”

Cook shined in the team’s victory on Saturday, finishing with 356 passing yards, two touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown. The Tigers are now 3-0 heading into their matchup against Memphis next weekend.
