Months after staging his controversial Putin’s ashes exhibition in Los Angeles, Pussy Rampage He is planning his return with a tour of the United States. On Tuesday, the Russian feminist protest group announced its “Riot Days” tour.
The collective, currently consisting of Maria “Masha” Alyokhina, Diana Burkot, Olga Broisova and Alina Petrova, will begin their tour in Montreal on November 1, before heading to cities including Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles and Dallas. , before ending their tour in Brooklyn, New York, on December 8.
The performance tour will be a combination of live music, theater and videos based on Alyokhina’s book, Days of riots, which chronicles his experience in the group, including its mass protests and his days locked up in prison. The performance art delves into current events, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Artists Liza Anne, Sloppy Jane, Death Valley Girls, Phinkshift and Thick will join the group on different stops on the US tour.
The group premiered a short film and art exhibition titled Putin’s ashes earlier this year, showing a group of women wearing red balaclavas and carrying a piece of art with the words “This button neutralizes Vladimir Putin.” The image sees a drawing of the Russian leader burning in the background backed by an eerie chorus sound.
