A24 has released the official trailer for their next Sofia Coppola characteristic “priscilla.”
The film is based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir, “Elvis and Me,” which details personal accounts of her relationship with Elvis Presley. The new images show glimpses of her first meeting in Bad Nauheim, Germany, in 1959, her wedding in Las Vegas in 1967, and the birth of her daughter, Lisa Marie. The trailer highlights some of the couple’s most iconic moments together, as well as their eventual divorce.
Stars of “Priscilla” Cailee Spaeny in the starting role and Jacob Elordi as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The film’s focus on Priscilla’s perspective serves as a sharp counterattack to Baz Luhrmann’s 2022 biographical musical drama, “Elvis,” which starred Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge as the Presleys and received several Oscar nominations.
“Priscilla” received a seven-minute ovation at this year’s Venice Film Festival. Coppola and Priscilla attended the premiere alongside Spaeny and Elordi, as the actors were granted an interim SAG-AFTRA deal to promote the film amid the strike. Spaeny won the award for best actress.
“Priscilla” is directed and written by Coppola, marking her first feature film since 2020’s “On the Rocks.” She also produces alongside Youree Henry and Lorenzo Mieli. The film comes from Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope. A24 will release “Priscilla” in North America, with Vision Distribution in Italy, where it will become a Sky exclusive. Stage 6 Films/Sony Pictures International Releasing will distribute worldwide.
“Priscilla” will be released in theaters on November 3. Watch the official trailer below.
