The strike by CP train drivers forced today to cancel 56 trains out of the 263 scheduled between 00:00 and 08:00, with 207 taking place, according to data sent by the company to the Lusa agency.

CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that of the 66 scheduled regional trains, 22 connections were not made (33%) and in the Lisbon urban trains, 115 were scheduled and 23 (20%) were canceled.

In the urban ones in Porto, 62 were planned for that period and only six circulated and in the urban ones in Coimbra of the eight planned, only four were fulfilled.

With regard to long-distance trains, only one connection of the 12 scheduled until 08:00 was fulfilled.

The workers started a 24-hour strike at 00:00 on the 10th to perform any and all work in the categories represented by the Train Drivers Union (SMAQ), with effect from the last hours of the 9th to the early hours of the 11th.

From 00:00 on the 11th until 23:59 today, the strike covers the provision of work to all normal daily work periods that have an expected duration of more than seven and a half hours, for the Machinist or Machinist categories Technician.

Also until the end of today, in the categories of Machinist and Technical Machinist, workers are on strike at all normal periods of daily work that involve entering and/or leaving the headquarters between 00:00 and 06:00.

Also until the end of today, workers in the Traction Inspector or Chief Traction Inspector categories are also on strike (since 00:00 on the 14th) for all normal work periods that have an expected duration of more than six hours.

The strike was called in protest against the company’s latest proposal for salary increases of 51 euros, which represents an average career progression of 3.89% and which the union structure considers “clearly unacceptable”.

The arbitral tribunal decreed minimum services of around 30% at national level, as well as what is necessary for the safety and maintenance of equipment and installations and emergency services and rescue trains.

In February, strikes called by various CP unions led to the suppression of hundreds of convoys a day.
