“Suicide Squad’ Filmmaker David Ayer Tells Fans To ‘Chill’

The first one Suicide Squad The film may have been a success, but that doesn’t mean it has a good reputation. Indeed, its director, David Ayer, is only now agreeing with open up about what was clear to many: that the film has been stripped away and softened, its rough edges sanded down for a more populist feel. Recently, it was reported that James Gunn, one of the new big names in the DCEU, was going to post Ayer’s original and nastiest cut. Not that that appeased some comic book movies.

As if caught by The AV Club, one fan expressed skepticism that Gunn would do the right thing, saying Ayer “really fell for” his “lie.” The person even tagged Ayer. Well, Ayer noticed and added his two cents.

“I absolutely can’t wait to see Gunn’s Superman,” Ayer’s tweet began. “I have to say this. Gunn is the bravest man in Hollywood today. He takes charge of the most difficult ship to captain in this industry.

Ayer added: “We make movies. We are artists. Not elected officials leading a nation. Everyone, please relax.

The comic book film genre has long been a haven for, to say the least, enthusiasts. Just ask Martin Scorsese. But when even a filmmaker like Ayer, who makes some of the most serious and intense entertainment out there, asks you to take it down a notch, maybe it’s time to listen.
