Shortly after Princess Kate, a strikingly retouched photo of Sweden's Silvia and Carl Gustaf was discovered. But those in charge are reacting a little more laxly than Princess Kate.

Queen Silvia, 80, and Sweden's King Carl Gustaf, 77, are now in the news because of a Photoshop glitch. It's about a picture taken during a state visit to Mexico and published three days ago on the official Instagram account of the Swedish royal family.

In the photo, Silvia and King Carl Gustaf pose in a tourist picture in the ruined city of Uxmal. If you look closely, you'll notice that the contours of the king's white shirt look strangely unnatural, as if they've been softened.

Of course, observant observers were quick to notice. “Looks extremely fake, don't know how this picture got approved,” one user commented. “Is it just me or are they edited into the picture?” another commented critically. Swedish journalist Emanuel Karlsten finally asked on X, formerly Twitter, what the bad editing was all about.

The photo agency explains the photo fraud of the Swedish royal family

He got an answer: Mats Schagerström from the responsible photo agency TT openly explained to the Swedish tabloid “Expressen” that the error was caused by the correction of the lighting conditions: “It was edited with Photoshop. “It was made in Mexico and the royal couple is in shadow, while the background where you see the pyramid is very bright,” says Schagerström.

And further: “As always, the photographers darkened the background so that it was not completely white, so that you could see what was in the background.” It is said to have occurred during compression. But Schagerström also admitted that the editor was “not as careful” “as maybe he should be.”

Schagerström praised the critical examination of photos of the Swedish royal family, but couldn't resist taking a dig at the British royals: “We have Kate and William to thank for that.”

Princess Kate herself is responsible for the mishap of the year

Princess Kate recently embarrassed herself with a photo of her with her three children that, on closer inspection, shows several Photoshop errors. It was only after several agencies recalled the image that Kate, who is currently recovering from stomach surgery, admitted her botched photo manipulation.
