bThree family members died in a violent crime in Baden-Württemberg. A 19-year-old man allegedly attacked his parents and two siblings with a knife in an apartment building in the district of Waldshut on Tuesday evening, Freiburg police headquarters and the Waldshut-Tiengen public prosecutor's office said on Wednesday.

The 58- and 61-year-old parents died at the scene. The suspect's 34-year-old brother died of his injuries in hospital. The sister of the alleged assailant also suffered serious but non-life-threatening stab wounds. He was taken to the clinic by rescue helicopter.

A 19-year-old man was temporarily detained at the scene. He was due to be brought before a judge at the Waldshut-Tiengen District Court on Wednesday on strong suspicion of murder and attempted murder in three cases.

The background of the act of violence was initially unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
