He marlins they’re calling up top pitching prospect Eury Perez and in honor of the move, we’re going to bet on Perez in a handful of markets, plus there are some big trends to take advantage of when placing MLB bets on the Rangers vs. A’s matchup.
The best bet on Eury Pérez’s debut in the MLB
The bet: More than 4.5K (-130)
We’re going to back the 20-year-old phenom to top his player in his major league debut. His swing and miss rate in the minors has not only been the same as Jacob DeGrom’s (21%), the reds they have the fourth highest K rate in the league at 24.6%. Perez has been striking out hitters at a rate of more than 12 for nine in minors, and his WHIP is just 0.81. He should have enough control and command to stay in the game long enough to surpass his 4.5 strikeout prop.
Rangers vs. Athletics Best Bets: Friday, May 12
The bet: Ranger -1.5 (-110), Over 9 (+100)
When the highest scoring team in baseball faces the team with the worst record in the league, it’s a great time to take advantage.
we charge two of our top three on the Rangers/A’s yesterday (we lost the over), and there’s no reason not to aim for the matchup again today.
Friday starter for the Forest ranger It’s Martin Perez. The left-handed pitcher struggled against the Angels the last time he allowed seven earned runs, but his ERA on the season still sits at just 3.86. Perez’s xERA is 4.86, but the A’s are unlikely to be the team to expose him further. But Oakland will at least add a couple run to tonight’s game total.
Ken Waldichuk starts for Oakland. The lefty has a 7.54 ERA this season with a 5.84 xERA. The Rangers, who have the fifth-best OPS against lefties this year (.800) and are scoring a league-leading 6.24 runs per game, should be able to get to him.
Now, let’s review the state of the bullpens. Texas’ bullpen is in the middle of the pack, but the A’s bullpen is still the worst in the league with a 6.79 ERA. That bullpen is likely what has caused A’s games to overrun 64.9% of the time this season (24-13-2). That’s the second-highest rate in the league.
For their part, the Rangers’ offense has also contributed to an over the majority of the time. Rangers games have topped 60% of the time (21-14-2), and that’s the fourth-highest rate in the league. Texas is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games and in their last seven road games.
Texas has covered the rushing line a league-leading 62.2% of time this year (23-14-0), while the A’s have the third-lowest rate at 38.5% (13-23-0 ).
The total has been exceeded in five of Oakland’s last seven games playing at home against Texas.
You guessed it: we’re taking the Rangers -1.5 and we’re going to take the control that offers the most money today.
