Even though it’s only been a few months The National released their album, The first two pages of Frankenstein, it seems they have been hard at work on another one. Tonight the band kicked off Homecoming Festival 2023 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Over the course of the two-day festival, fans will also be able to hear either High Violet Or Trouble will find me played in full. They’ll be able to see other artists tomorrow like Pavement, Snail Mail, Weyes Blood and more. Tickets are still available for one-day general admission for Saturday. here.
And they had a special announcement in store: unveiling their new album, Laugh track, is on the way. It will also drop earlier than expected, arriving at midnight Sunday night – or Monday morning, technically.
Although not much else is known about The National’s new record, attendees at the premiere party received a truly welcome surprise.
The first two pages of Frankenstein dropped in April, featuring collaborations with Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens and Taylor Swift. They then embarked on a world tour, including a stop at Madison Square Garden with Patti Smith as a surprise guest. The National’s tour dates continue in Europe until early October.
“Even though we had always been anxious whenever we worked on a record, this was the first time we felt like things were really finished,” singer Matt Berninger previously said.
