A 36-year-old man from Halle an der Saale is suspected of building bombs in his rented apartment. Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office are on duty. Earlier, the man had shouted xenophobic slogans from his window.

WA major police operation is currently underway in Schlosserstraße in Halle because it is suspected that bombs were built in the apartment. The matter is currently being investigated, and specialists from the Criminal Police Office of the State of Saxony-Anhalt are on duty, said a police spokesperson.

According to the police, the operation has been going on since 11:30. He is a 36-year-old man from Germany. “The man insulted passers-by from his window and shouted xenophobic slogans,” the Halle police spokesperson told FAZ when asked.

The man was “hugely intoxicated” when he was taken into custody. When he looked into his apartment, he suspected that he was making explosives.
