Toni Kroos and Thomas Müller have a very special experience in common: the two world champions celebrated their international debut together on 3 March 2010: Kroos replaced Müller in the 67th minute of the World Cup friendly against Argentina (0:1). One has so far played 112 and the other 129 international matches for Germany.

Only at this Euro things couldn't be more different: Kroos graduated in the DFB So far, all four Euro games have started from the start, while Müller only played a quarter of an hour in the 5-1 win over Scotland in the opening game. Since then, the Bayern professional has been waiting in vain for another change in this tournament.

Müller: “Then maybe we don’t want that.”

Together they looked back on their careers in a DFB video. Half an hour of entertainment at its finest, the association calls the format “bromance”.

At one point in the video, Kroos says that Müller will be a coach in the future. And at the end, in a very funny moment, he revealed that he really thinks like a coach.

It was a possible substitution in the Euro quarter-finals against Spain – for the last time together on the pitch. Suddenly Müller realised: “That would mean we might need a goal,” he suddenly stammered and smiled mischievously. “Then maybe we wouldn’t want to do that after all,” he added, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly.

And indeed: Thomas Müller is, along with Chris Führich, one of those professionals who only come in when nothing works anymore. Then: if there is a delay.

You can tell that immediately when he speaks and expresses what the coaches are saying: “It would be better to replace all three central defenders. That way Germany would take the lead and defend the result.” Without Müller.
