Trump serves lunch to Texas border agents before key immigration speech

Former President Donald Trump was seen serving lunch to border agents on Sunday as he returned to the US-Mexico border to promote his potential immigration plans if elected.

The Republican presidential front-runner was in Edinburg, Texas, to give his comments on his plan to secure the border, as well as the operations he would like to implement. However, before his speech, Trump could be seen handing out lunches to soldiers, police officers and other Texas National Guard workers who have been stationed at the border ahead of Thanksgiving, according to AP News. Joining the 45th president was Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbottwho has supported for a long time Triumph and its border security posture. Trump and Abbott handed out tacos, shook hands and posed for photos with officers.

Both political leaders will speak to about 150 supporters outside a hangar at the city’s airport. Furthermore, a person close to Trump would have stated that Abbott intends to endorse the former president for the 2024 Republican nomination, according to AP News.

Abbott has expressed his opinion on the border crisis currently facing the United States. The Republican-led Texas House of Representatives approved a major immigration bill in late October, which included allowing state law enforcement agents to expel illegal immigrants to Mexico. Immigrants crossing the southern border have been affected record figures under the Biden administration, allowing millions to cross into the country. In October alone, federal authorities recorded 240,988 migrant encounters at the southern border, according to data published by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In September, 269,735 encounters were recorded, making it the highest month on record.
