bTwo people died in a small plane crash in the Belgian town of Spa. The pilot missed the runway on Sunday morning and ran off the road into a car, Belgian news agency Belga reported. A fire broke out. The pilot and another person, who could not be identified at first, died in the crash near the German border. Both victims were German.
Andreas Ungar, executive director of Mönchengladbach Airport, confirmed to the German Press Agency on Sunday evening that the plane took off from Mönchengladbach Airport at 8:44.
The owner of a parked car near the vehicle was allegedly not injured in the accident. The accident happened about 100 meters from the airport. Authorities are on site to prevent contamination of water intakes and damage caused by kerosene.
