Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh won the two President’s Police Medals in the form of Vishisht Seva (Distinguished Service) Awards and 15 Police Meritorious Service Medals on Republic Day.

The Union government released the honors list on Wednesday.

One of the winners of Vishisht Seva is Venkata Rao who works as a reserve sub-inspector of the police in Mangalagiri with the sixth battalion of the PA SP. The other recipient of this honor is Atul Singh, Additional DGP, Guntur and Sangam Venkata Rao, RSI, 6 APSP Battalion, Mangalagiri.

Atul Singh is from the 1995 IPS batch, worked as SP in Visakhapatnam as well as with Greyhounds in Hyderabad and Cyberabad. He worked as IGP North Zone and CP Visakhapatnam Manager in 2014 and managed rescue efforts after Cyclone Hudhud. He worked as chairman of the SLPRB and introduced transparency and new technologies to the police recruitment process, according to a quote.

Atul Singh went to the central deputation from 2018 to 2022, worked in the central vigilance commission and as joint secretary of the Ministry of Sports, taking care of the Khelo India and Fit India programs of the ministry.

Venkata Rao working as an SI reserve in Mangalagiri took the job in 1983 as a constable and rose through the ranks. He was awarded the Indian Police Medal in 2013 and the Seva Medal in 2021.

Meritorious performances: The President’s Police Meritorious Service Medals go to Balli Ravichandra, SP, Guntur; Yarram Sreenivasa Reddy, Subdivisional Police Officer, Dhone, Nandyal District; Korangi Praveen Kumar, DSP, Bakkannapalem District Training Center, Visakhapatnam; Boddapati Satyanarayana, ASP (Armed Reserve), Kakinada; J Siva Narayana Swamy, DSP, ACB, Kurnool; Angadi Sadiq Ali, inspector, Molakalacheruvu circle, Annamayya district; and Prathipati Sukumar, Reserve SI, Home Guard Unit, Vijayawada City.

The others in the list of 15 are: Dara Suribabu, SI, Port Criminal Police Station, Visakhapatnam; Gangulaiah Parathasarathy, ASI, SBS PS Tirupati Campus; Kadiyala Samba Siva Rao, ASI, Chebrole PS; Yarram Srinivasa Rao, ASI, CCS District Police Office, Palnadu; Tirumalaraju Suryanarayana Raju, ASI, Bhogapuram PS; Neelagiri Vara Prasad, SI, O/O Inspector General of Police, SPL. INT. Branch, Vijayawada; Kolasani Venkata Rama Rao, Dy. Assault Commander O/O ADGP operations (greyhounds); and Dabbakuti Surya Narayana, Reserve Inspector, AP HQRS, NTR Police Station, Vijayawada.

KSSV Commander Subba Reddy and Additional Commander ES Sai Prasad along with other battalion officers and staff congratulated Venkata Rao. Vijayawada Police Commissioner Kantirana Tata and other officials congratulated Surya Narayana on the Meritorious Service Award.
