The optical illusion has already been viewed more than 15 million times on X (formerly Twitter) alone. Self-experimentation shows that it can take some time or even much longer until you realize what the image actually shows instead of a man and his two dogs.

Optical illusion: Do you see the real subject?

The photo was published online on January 8, 2024 through the popular Massimo account, which has almost two million followers. In front of the image it says: “This is how optical illusions confuse your mind. First you see two dogs and his owner and then… “What you see seems quite clear at first glance and just as advertised: a man is standing in the snow with his two dogs.

Optical Illusion X-Post

However, the individual comments below the post show that the solution is quite difficult to find for some: “And then what? “I still see two dogs with their owner.” The interesting thing about this example is that the optical illusion occurred by chance and not consciously. However, that doesn't make it any easier to expose.

If you want to find out for yourself, it is better not to continue reading from here, but to try the recording first.

This is what the photo really shows.

To get closer to the real reason, one should not be guided by the phrase “two dogs and their owner”, but rather take a closer look at the owner. At first, the supposed man draws attention because the outlines of his head and shoulders seem frayed. There is a good reason for this and it is the actual optical illusion.

Because he's not a human at all. This is a third dog whose tail and rump in the photo only resemble the head and back of a human. At the same time, the black fur prevents the individual parts of the body from being seen in detail. Many people don't even realize what they are really looking at. Would you have recognized the animal yourself?
