Weezer performed an impromptu acoustic set at the writers’ strike

Weezer surprised fans with a one-night stand at The Glass House in Pomona, California, which uproxx attendedconveying that the band tried to “try a bunch of songs we don’t normally play and see what they think” before their Indie Rock Road Trip summer tour.

On Wednesday May 17th, Weezer showed up unexpectedly again in California. This time, the beloved rockers played their tried and true hits for Writers Guild of America members who they were picketing outside Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, by TMZ.

“Lead singer Rivers Cuomo was flanked by guitarists Brian Bell and Scott Shriner outside the main movie studio on Wednesday, playing an acoustic concert for writers continuing their strike,” the outlet stated. “Members of the Writers Guild of America surrounded the band as they played from outside the studio entrance with Weezer playing some of their biggest hits, including ‘Beverly Hills’ and ‘Buddy Holly.’”

Imagine Dragons did something similar on May 9, but their acoustic concert was performed for picketers at the Netflix headquarters in Los Angeles.

“We just want fair compensation for the people who put in the time and are amazing creators that power so much of the entertainment that influences the world,” the Imagine Dragons lead singer said. Dan Reynolds said TMZ. “We have many friends who are writers.”

Reynolds added: “Writers are what make all the magic happen, and creativity is what drives so much of the world, drives our joy. It is my greatest joy comes from these people. writers deserve to be compensated.”
