Which yellow jackets survive in the forest and which die?

Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” is about a group of teenage girls (and a few boys and men) whose plane crashes in the middle of nowhere while en route to a national soccer tournament. Some team members die in the accident, while others die in the 19 months between the crash and when they were rescued. The first episode of the show teased that the survivors would eventually resort to cannibalism to survive, which also involves some scary-looking rituals.

Since the series takes place in two timelines, 1996 and the present day, we already know which of the Yellowjackets survived the forest and the few that didn’t. the second season keep going. Some of the characters people assumed to have died were revealed to be alive at the end of the first season, while the fates of others remain a mystery.

Read on for a breakdown of who we know survives their time in the woods, who we know dies, and whose fate is still up in the air.

Yellow jackets surviving the forest

• shuna: Shauna makes it out of the woods and marries Jeff, Jackie’s high school sweetheart. The baby she is pregnant when the plane crashes and dies while she is giving birth.
• misty: Misty, despite her tendency to annoy all the other survivors, manages to get out of the woods. As an adult, she still longs for the friendship of her teammates.
• Taissa: Taissa survives the desert, but despite her wealth and success, she bears some of the most obvious psychological scars of survivors. As an adult, she is plagued with sleepwalking episodes in which she behaves in ways she doesn’t understand.
• natural: Nat survives all 19 months in the woods, but as an adult, she battles addiction. As the series begins, she is released from rehab, paid for by Taissa.
• van: Van is attacked by a wolf in the first season, but despite a large cut to her face, she manages to get out of the woods. The second season shows Van as an adult for the first time; she runs a struggling, nostalgic video store.
• lottery: The end of the first season indicates that Lottie becomes the queen of the horns during her time in the forest, although some events in the second season call that into question. In the present day, she runs a wellness/worship center. Before the accident, he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and was taking medication to control his hallucinations. At the beginning of the second season, we see her go through intensive psychiatric treatment after she is rescued.
• Travis: Travis is the only man we know for sure survived the time the group spent in the woods. However, dies during the first season in the present day. His death is ruled a suicide, though Nat is convinced it was foul play.

Yellow jackets dying in the woods

• Jackie: Jackie, Shauna’s best friend, has a hard time getting along with the other girls during the first season, partly because she doesn’t have many survival skills. At the end of the season, she is locked out of the cabin and she has to build a fire to keep warm. It snows and she freezes to death. In the second season, they eat it.
• laura lee: Laura Lee is the most religious of the Yellow Jackets and tries to help Lottie accept her visions as messages from God. The team finds a small plane in the woods, and Laura Lee reads about flying in a book she discovers in the cockpit. She manages to get them to fly for help, and she is able to lift off the ground and over the lake before the plane bursts into flames, killing her.
• People who died in the plane crash: Coach Bill, the father of Travis and Javi, dies in the accident; they find his body impaled on a tree. Team member Rachel Goldman is also killed, as are the flight’s pilot and crew.
• Glass: Glass, a member of the JV team, falls off a cliff to his death in the second season. It is debatable to what extent Misty is to blame for his death. Right before she died, we found out that her real name is Kristen and the team misheard it on the first day; she never corrected them.
• Javi: Many fans thought that Adam, the artist Shauna has an affair with in season one, was secretly Javi as an adult, but he’s not. Javi manages to survive the long stint by himself in the desert and finds himself in season two, episode four. Unfortunately, the finds a watery end in the eighth episode of the seasonwhen Nat, who has been randomly chosen as the first human sacrifice of the group, allows her to drown to save herself.

Yellow jackets who could die in the woods

• Mari, Akila, Gene and Melissa: Mari, Akilah, Gen and Melissa are all Yellowjackets players who are not main characters but have a presence in the series. Unfortunately, this makes it look like they died in the woods (and were possibly eaten by the other girls), but we don’t know for sure yet.
• coach ben: Coach Ben is the only adult to survive the accident, although his leg had to be partially amputated. He uses a crutch, so he has a hard time moving through the woods and getting privacy from the girls. We don’t know if they rescued him from the forest.
