Bundeswehr has a record order for military trucks from Rheinmetall According to information from Handelsblatt, a framework agreement includes the delivery of up to 6,500 vehicles worth up to 3.5 billion euros.

The Bundestag's Budget Committee had already released the funds at the end of June. According to the Handelsblatt, 610 vehicles were ordered immediately, of which 250 trucks are to be delivered this year. “The majority will be financed through the Bundeswehr's 100 billion euro special fund,” Rheinmetall said in a statement. The order is to be booked in the third quarter of the 2024 financial year.

The Bundeswehr did not order ammunition from Rheinmetall until June.

Rheinmetall is a long-standing supplier to the Bundeswehr and one of the largest munitions manufacturers in the world. According to t-online, the Bundeswehr ordered munitions worth around 8.5 billion euros from the Düsseldorf-based company at the end of June.

BVB partners with Rheinmetall

Rheinmetall recently made headlines when the defence company became a sponsor of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. According to “sportschau”, the contract will initially last for three years and will bring BVB a total of 20 million euros.
