NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that young people will be the greatest beneficiaries of a developed India and the greatest responsibility for building it also rests on their shoulders.

Addressing the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers who will take part in the Republic Day parade, Modi said they represent the country’s aspirations and dreams in the “amrit kaal” in progress.

He said there are many opportunities for young people in the country as India works for the future of the whole world in sectors ranging from space to environment.

“The world sees a new future for itself in India’s achievements,” Modi added.

He said it was encouraging to see young people participating in various programs in increasing numbers.

Referring to an event on Parakram Diwas to mark Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday, he said it was the first time that many children dressed as Netaji came to the prime minister’s residence.

“The mantra of ‘Jai Hind’ inspires everyone,” he said.

The NCC and NSS connect the younger generations to national goals and aspirations, he said, adding that his government was working to encourage and expand their activities.

Interacting with young people is always special for him, he added.

He noted that different challenges arise in border and coastal areas and that special training is provided so that young people can play the role of “first responders”, if necessary.

The prime minister said his government is working to make the border areas vibrant by boosting development and creating various facilities there.

The idea is to empower the young population and create better education and employment opportunities so that people return to these villages, he said.

Modi asked them to work with “team spirit”, saying success is always achieved through the efforts of many people.

Referring to India’s G20 Presidency, he asked young people to read and discuss it among themselves in schools and colleges.

He also asked them to participate in different ongoing programs and cited the example of “Swachh Bharat”.

“The scope of your success expands when your goals are linked to the country’s goals. The world will see your success as India’s success. Indian youth must tap into the unseen possibilities, explore the unimaginable solutions,” Modi said. .

“You are young, it is time for you to shape your future. You are the creator of new thoughts and new standards. You are the pioneer of the New India,” he added.

Giving examples like APJ Abdul Kalam, Homi Jehangir Bhabha and CV Raman and Dhyanchand among others, he said the whole world regards their milestones and achievements as India’s successes.
