According to a British court, an Australian businessman is not the founder of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, who operates under the pseudonym “Satoshi Nakamoto.” This was said on Thursday by a judge at the High Court in London, the PA news agency reported. Businessman Craig Wright claimed to be “Satoshi.” For this he was sued by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (Copa).

The foundation stone for Bitcoin was laid in 2008. An individual or group published an article by the name “Satoshi Nakamoto” that described the principles of autonomous digital money. “Satoshi” only communicated electronically with his first colleagues before retiring after a few years.

Wright declared himself Satoshi Nakamoto

There has been repeated speculation about the identity of the person or persons. In 2016, Wright stated that he was “Satoshi Nakamoto” and wanted to back up the claim with the inventor's cryptographic key. But experts soon expressed doubts. The judge in Britain now stated that Wright was not behind the pseudonym. A written ruling will be published later.

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency that does not require a central bank or custodian. Transactions are processed through a non-tamperable and publicly visible database (“blockchain”).
